One of the dopest bands I ended up discovering at Bear Creek back in 2010 was Snarky Puppy, a Brooklyn based instrumental fusion band originally hailing from Texas. Bass player Michael League is the compositional brains of the collective, which includes nearly 30 musicians in total, and he is responsible for Snarky Puppy’s complex and intriguing sound. Their most recent DVD release Tell Your Friends finds the band exploring a multitude of genres, ideas, and themes all while maintaining the tightest musicianship possible. Seriously. These guys really don’t miss a beat and it’s mind blowing to see them pull it off. Check out the clip above and be the judge yourself! They’ve got another live DVD on the way so if you dig it go to www.snarkypuppy.com to find out more.

Recently started listening to Mr. Scruff after I came across a track by him and another new find, Quantic. He’s got a funky sound and has a pretty varied style. You have tunes like this, and then…
All I’m saying is that the song is infectious and joyful and the video made me laugh…, who could ask for more — Kelli
The Groove - The Rhythm - The Lyrics — Jazz has it all. I once was very intimidated by jazz; thought it was a language only spoken by hip musicians…, Turns out jazz is universally available for all…, sometimes you might need a guide to find your niche but I promise you there’s something there for you. I offer these songs as a starting point if you’re interested. I’d love to hear from you. What should we add next?
Live Performances I’ve recently enjoyed…,
